Lancaster Eco Smoking Shelter for 12–14 People
The Urbanfab Lancaster Eco Smoking Shelter provides a generous covered area for approximately 12–14 people, making it a practical option for sites with high footfall. Its 3050 × 2000 mm footprint provides ample space while retaining a straightforward shelter design suitable for a wide range of commercial and industrial environments.
Weather Protection for the Lancaster Eco Smoking Shelter
Clear, high-impact UV-stable PETG panels provide protection from changing weather conditions while maintaining visibility around the shelter. The covered design provides shelter from rain and wind while retaining a bright, open feel.
Lancaster Eco Smoking Shelter Compliance
The Lancaster Eco Smoking Shelter is available with different panel configurations to suit the intended use of the shelter.
Half-Height Side Panels
For use as a smoking shelter, half-height side panels can be added to provide additional protection from wind and rain while keeping the shelter sufficiently open.
Under UK smoke-free legislation, a roofed shelter must not be substantially enclosed. This means that at least 50% of the total wall area must remain permanently open. Site layout and surrounding structures should also be considered when assessing compliance.
Full-Height Side Panels
Full-height PETG side panels provide enhanced protection from the elements, creating a more enclosed and sheltered space. This option is available for alternative uses where greater enclosure and weather protection are beneficial.
Existing Urbanfab Eco Shelters can also be retrofitted with side panels where required.
Robust Hot-Dip Galvanised Steel Construction
The Lancaster Eco Smoking Shelter is manufactured using a 50 × 25 mm RHS mild-steel frame with 5 mm hot-dip galvanised steel locking plates, providing a robust structure for long-term outdoor use.
Hot-dip galvanising to ISO 1461:2022 forms a fully bonded zinc coating across the mild steel, providing a layer of protective zinc armour against corrosion and a low-maintenance finish suited to outdoor environments. For more information about hot-dip galvanising and why we specify it, see our Why Hot-Dip Galvanising page.
Modular Smoking Shelter Configurations
The Lancaster Eco Smoking Shelter’s modular structure allows multiple units to be linked together, creating a continuous sheltered area for larger installations. This provides a flexible way to accommodate higher user volumes while maintaining a consistent, cohesive shelter layout — all while remaining competitively priced.
Galvanised and Finish Options
Many of our customers opt for the standard hot-dip galvanised mild steel to ISO 1461:2022 finish. Optional powder coating is available in any standard RAL colour where a specific aesthetic or organisational colour scheme is required.
Applied over the galvanised steel, it creates a duplex coating system, combining the long-term corrosion protection of galvanising with an additional protective barrier and durable decorative finish. Powder coating adds approximately 3–4 days to the lead time and incurs an additional cost.
As a lower-cost alternative, the frame can be hand-painted after assembly using an appropriate metal paint, with primer applied where required.
Secure Bolt-Down Installation
The plate-mounted design allows the Lancaster Eco Smoking Shelter to be securely fixed to any suitable hard surface.
Flat-Pack Lancaster Eco Smoking Shelter Delivery
The Lancaster Eco Smoking Shelter is delivered as a flat-pack kit for straightforward self-assembly. Fixings are included, excluding ground anchors, as the appropriate fixing method depends on the surface and site conditions.
